Arnfield Independent School
Arnfield Independent School believes that all young people, regardless of their circumstance, are entitled to quality education that enables them to thrive and reach their potential.
Arnfield Independent School provides on-site education for young people placed at Arnfield Tower Activity Centre, Greenfield House and Moorfield Barn children’s homes.
The Education Team, which consists of qualified teachers and Outdoor
Educators, work closely with Residential Care Work staff to provide a comprehensive, engaging and holistic education programme that meets the needs of each young person. The school community celebrates diversity and encourages pupils to engage positively with society by delivering a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum that is individualised for each young person.
It incorporates positive and engaging learning opportunities through traditional classroom pedagogy, individualised and flexible project-based learning, and a dynamic out-of-classroom learning approach. Students engage in learning experiences in a broad range of curriculum subjects (Maths, English, Science, PSHE, Arts etc.). They engage in projects that aim to integrate their understanding and have opportunities to gain ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) awards and AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance) accredited outdoor education unit awards.
The ultimate aim of Arnfield Independent School is to facilitate students’ successful return to full-time education at either a maintained school, college, or to facilitate successful engagement with a career pathway through work experience, traineeships and apprenticeships.
We have built excellent relationships with local schools, employers and colleges who help us to achieve this goal.
